Internships at Disability Rights NC

Externships, Pro Bono and Semester Internships

Disability Rights NC has year-round opportunities for students to work with us. Students in law school and schools of social work have worked with us during the school year and summer for credit. We regularly work with pro bono programs at area law schools to recruit students to staff projects throughout the year. We are also open to undergraduate volunteers, depending on experience.

Summer Internships

Each summer, we hire 4-8 law students.Because we represent clients with all types of disabilities, state-wide, on a wide range of issues including education, public benefits, disability civil rights, employment, housing, voting access and accessibility,we can offer students a variety of experiences both in and out of the office. If interested, please submit a cover letter detailing your interest in disability law, and resume to Corye Dunn at corye.dunn@disabilityrightsnc.org. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis but if you attend the UNC School of Law or North Carolina Central School of Law, please check with your Career Services Office about on-campus interviews, and submit your application through that process. Position is unpaid, so we encourage students to explore grant funding through your law school.
