Disability Rights NC is a 2011 Sector Stewardship Award Winner

  • The NC Center for Nonprofits awarded its 2011 Sector Stewardship Awards to Disability Rights NC, the Davidson Housing Coalition, and Partnership for Children of Cumberland County for exemplary service. http://www.ncnonprofits.org. The winners were honored at the 2011 Conference & Public Policy Forum in Greensboro. Board Chair Beth Garriss Hardy, Board member Rusty Bradstock and staff were in attendance to accept the award.

Disability Rights North Carolina Receives Award from National Group

  • Disability Rights North Carolina received the Advocacy Award during the National Disability Rights Network (NDRN) annual conference held in Los Angeles in June 2010. The Award was given in recognition of the nonprofit organization's outstanding work in protecting the rights of people with disabilities to live in the community.

  • 28th Judicial District Bar Recognizes Disability Rights NC's Asheville Office - Disability Rights North Carolina was featured in the September 2010 Bar News. Look for the picture of Staff Attorney and 28th JDB member Holly Stiles on page 11 of the newsletter below. The article highlights some of the work that Disability Rights NC is doing.

  • In August, The Arc of NC recognized Disability Rights NC for "providing exceptional advocacy on behalf of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities." The 2010 President's Award was presented at The Arc of NC Annual Conference in Wilmington. "The advocacy has taken the form of individual assistance, lawsuits, collaboration with other organizations on public policy and widespread information dissemination."
  • Disability Rights NC will be receiving the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys' Balanced Life Workplace Award for the medium size employer category. This award will be presented on September 24, 2010 at the Annual Conference in Greensboro.
