PAIMI Advisory Council is looking for New Members
Disability Rights North Carolina's PAIMI Advisory Council (Protection and Advocacy for Individuals with Mental Illness) is seeking individuals who want to make and promote positive change in working to protect and advocate for the rights of North Carolina's citizens with mental health diagnoses. Among other duties, the PAIMI Advisory Council is charged with advising Disability Rights North Carolina's staff and Board of Directors on polices and priorities for protection and advocacy as well as working to educate the public about Disability Rights NC's purpose, issue targets and activities. Individuals who either have a mental illness or are receiving mental health services (or who have family members who have a mental illness) are encouraged to apply. Council representation requires at least one attorney, one mental health professional, one provider of mental health services, and one member of the public who has demonstrated a substantial commitment to improving mental health services. Other factors that may affect selection include geographic location and minority representation. Applicants who do not meet the PAIMI Advisory Council's needs for the next appointment cycle will be considered as vacancies become available. If you have questions or need additional information, contact Sheila Wall-Hill, PAIMI Advisory Council Chair, at Swall-hill@mhacentralcarolinas.org DOC
